  • MARINE LIABILITIES

      Ship Repairers'

      This policy extends protection to those who are repairing or altering a vessel.

      Typical coverage includes: loss of, or damage to the vessel, equipment or other property on board resulting from the repair or alteration activity; damage to the property of others caused by the vessel under repair; certain liability of the repairer while the vessel is transported during the repair process.

      Wharfinger's

      Operators of commercial piers or wharves turn to Great American for specific protection for their unique needs. While similar to Terminal Operators and Stevedore policies, Wharfinger protection extends to: loss or damage to the property of others in the care, custody, and control of the Wharfinger; including tugs and tows, barges, their cargo and equipment; wreck removal.


  • MARINE CARGO

      Marine Cargo insurance is the oldest form of insurance, having been in existence for over 700 years. Marine insurance today is still of great importance to international trade. Cargo Insurance facilitates trade by offering security to both the financial institutions and the trading partners. The Great American Ocean Marine Division is a specialist in insuring of cargo using any recognized means of transport by air, land, or sea, anyplace in the world. The policy can be extended to include Domestic Transportation, Warehousing, and Processing.

  • COMMERCIAL WATERCRAFT INSURANCE

      Builder's Risk

      • Provides protection to builders of all types of vessels under construction
      • The coverage is comprehensive and includes liability protection when the vessel is in the water
      • The insured is covered for an amount equal to the contract price, from the time the keel is laid until the completion of the craft

      Barges

      • Provides coverage for a variety of barges
      • Ocean and inland barges may qualify for coverage
      • Both physical damage and liability (Protection & Indemnity) coverages are available

      Tugs & Tows

      Great American Insurance will carefully assess the risks and tailor coverage to superior tug and tow owners. Physical damage and protection indemnity coverages are available and can include vessel's liability to crew members.

  • MARINE CRAFTMASTER

      A Marine Craftmaster is an individual or a small business that:

      • Repairs, services, or installs equipment on private pleasure or small commercial watercraft
      • Works at the vessel's location in marinas or yards owned by others
      • Has gross receipts of less than $500,000 a year

      Marine businesses that fit this program include:

      • Repair and/or installation of Electronics, Fiberglass, Canvas/Sails/Upholstery
      • Repair-engines
      • Detailing/cleaning ? includes businesses that dive to do this work
      • Carpentry/woodworking
      • Painting

      We have drawn upon our unique experience with oil pollution incidents to create a policy covering cleanup expenses for on-water spills. Coverage for fines and penalties are included.

      Our Oil Pollution Cleanup Coverage is designed for the Brownwater Industry and is primarily intended to cover vessel owner responsibilities under OPA 90 and CERCLA for discharge or potential discharge of oil from bunkering spills and grounding or sinking.

  • COFR-Rite

      This program is intended to provide a COFR-only for vessels that are enrolled in an acceptable P & I facility. Any owner/vessel that is a member of the International Group of P&I Clubs is automatically eligible. We will accept dry cargo vessels up to 83,333 GRT and Tank vessels up to 41,667 GRT. A COFR (Certificate of Financial Responsibility) is essentially a performance bond that Great American is posting with the government on behalf of the P&I Clubs guaranteeing that they will meet their clean-up obligations under OPA 90. If they fail to meet their obligation the government can make a claim against Great American Insurance directly.
